PT+ is a comprehensive online training package which includes around 3 hours of video content and dozens of resources to help you deliver first rate precision teaching in your setting.

These resources include the tools you will require to create precision teaching assessment probes and chart learner progress through a precision teaching program.

The training program meanwhile, ensures that you have all the knowledge skills you need to ensure your learners are having the best experience and being given the best chance to make accelerated progress with their learning. 

When joining PT+, staff will receive individual account logins for a year's access to PT+. This enables each staff member to work through at their own pace, and be able to quickly pick up from where they left at any time.

The course should take around 3 hours in total, inclusive of watching the videos and undertaking some of the activities suggested. 

I would say that doing PT+ daily is absolutely great and what most schools aim for. I wouldn’t recommend doing it less than that as daily is the minimum frequency you can get away with whilst keeping the child learning optimally.

Twice a day would be fantastic as long as you stick to the principles of distributed practice and make sure the sessions are spread out (one in the morning and one in the afternoon for instance).

Planning for teaching a new skill might take 5-10 minutes for each child, however once the initial planning is done, creating new probes, using the planning document and monitoring the new phases of a program shouldn’t take more than a minute or two, given how easy it is to use the resources we provide with PT+.

Given that the intervention itself takes around 10 minutes, you can see how this is a high impact low cost intervention that can yield incredible results in a relatively short span of time!

There is no strict age range for PT+. Precision teaching can be used to teach anyone discrete skills (such as spellings, capital cities or number facts) that they are struggling to learn effectively. As such I have seen precision teaching interventions used effectively from EYFS to secondary and specialist settings and have even seen adults use the techniques to learn facts quickly!

The theoretical basis of the PT+ program lies in well established psychological theories of learning from Vygotski's Zone of Proximal Development to Haring's Learning Hierarchy. There have also been numerous studies on the impact and effectiveness of precision teaching itself as an intervention.

The additions, amendments and improvements PT+ makes to traditional precision teaching intervention are based upon this research and the practice based evidence acquired by Dr Lee Randall during his years training staff and working in schools where precision teaching interventions are taking place.

Yes this is perfectly fine as long as you stick to two key rules:

Firstly – ensure that the 2 programs are in separate curriculum areas so for example one might be spelling whilst the other is mental arithmetic – this is because doing two similar tasks, spelling and reading for example; might lead to interference and the child becoming muddled.

Secondly – make sure you have time to do BOTH programs daily – i.e. do the spelling each morning and the numeracy each afternoon as the child still requires daily practice at both!
